A respected local public figure discovered a cloned page using their photos, titles, and speech clips. The impersonators were accepting advance 'event booking deposits' through personal payment channels — meaning real followers were losing money while the reputation damage landed on the real person. The client's small team had reported the page several times without result, partly because their reports were inconsistent, incomplete, and filed from different accounts.
Step 01
First, we captured a dated, organised record of the impersonation: archived page URLs, screenshots of the fraudulent booking conversations, and payment solicitation records — material that would remain usable even as the impersonators changed their page name.
Step 02
We prepared consolidated reports through the platform's official impersonation channels with the correct identity-verification attachments, filed from the verified account, and tracked each submission so follow-ups referenced earlier case numbers instead of starting over.
Step 03
We drafted calm, factual public notices warning followers about the fake page, pinned reporting instructions, and advised on comment moderation — protecting the audience without amplifying the scam through panic.
Step 04
We set up a simple recurring check for copycat pages under the client's name variants, so new clones could be documented and reported on the same established pattern.
The impersonation pages identified during the engagement were removed through the platform's official review process after the structured reports were filed. The client kept the evidence archive, the reporting template, and the monitoring routine as permanent defences. Impersonation response is inherently reactive — platforms decide removals — but the client now holds a repeatable, documented playbook instead of improvised panic reporting.
